Sophia Ridley
Multimedia Journalist

Hi! I am Sophia Ridley, and I have been in love with storytelling since I was a little girl. My whole life my mama always said I would be a news reporter. Of course, little girls have a tough time listening or believing their moms, but they do have a way about being right about most things.
I was born and raised just south of Denver, Colorado along with my twin brothers Ian and J.P.
I went to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado (Go Rams!) where I declared my major as Journalism and Media Communications and never looked back. I graduated in May of 2022 and began my career in May of 2023 at KNOE in Monroe, Louisiana in 2023. While working there I started as a full time MMJ but quickly worked my way up to a fill in anchor and eventually weekend anchor and weekday MMJ.
I worked at KNOE for 18 months and in that time, I learned not only how to report, produce, anchor and everything else in-between, but I learned how important it is to give people a voice and a platform to share their experiences.
I have so much love for Louisiana. It is a beautiful place filled with breathtaking bayous, drool-worthy food, and a culture filled with so much life it feels like the sun shines brighter there.
After my 18 months there I found a new opportunity here in Bryan at KBTX. I am excited to experience true SEC football at Kyle Field and keep enjoying the comforts of southern hospitality. The knowledge I learned at KNOE carries on here, with a desire to learn what matters most to this community, serving them by means of keeping them informed in a fair and balanced manner, and most importantly, listening to them.
At its core, this industry is storytelling, but there would be no stories to tell if we as journalists did not listen.
I am excited to listen to you and hope that I can make a difference through your stories.
